I must go back
Not much conversation in the car. Each of them is sunk in their own contemplation of the event that just took place, expect for the old man, who’s under the happy impression that he’s in a helicopter with a bunch of hookers, something that happened to him once, back in his glory days
Interesting takes in places- like following the tramp for a while- which pivots to a therapy session with the brother
What is this nonsense about other lives? It sounds pagan and foreign and modern, part of the general moral decay you can see all around
there’s a competitive element to every group
there’s almost no one at the brothers funeral
You don’t figure yourself out because you’re always changing
Your thirties often involve pauses where you check in on where you’re at, how you’re spending your time, and whether you’re actually happy
Then I look around to see Ryder balancing a packet of pickled onion Monster Munch on his head
